El Shaddai

As I have been studying and meditating on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit has impressed upon my heart the powerful revelation of one of God’s covenant names—El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One. This month, we will explore the meaning of El Shaddai and what it means for believers today.  We will discover how God calls His people to move from the mindset of scarcity that dominates the world’s system into the revelation of His divine sufficiency—the place where His provision, power, and promises are always more than enough.

In a world that constantly speaks the language of shortage, limitation, and uncertainty, the Word of God reveals a very different reality. Scripture introduces us to a God who is not limited by the conditions of the world but who is more than enough in every situation. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21

Throughout the Bible, God reveals Himself through His covenant names so that His people might understand His nature and character. When the Lord declared to Abraham, “I am Almighty God” (Genesis 17:1), He was revealing Himself as El Shaddai—the God who possesses unlimited power and unlimited supply. “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.  And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” (Genesis 17:1–2.)

Moving From Scarcity to Surplus

The world system feeds the general populace a constant narrative of lack, suggesting that there is simply not enough to go around. Gas prices rise, grocery costs climb, and many wonder whether there will even be anything left when it is time to collect Social Security. The message of the world is always the same—there is a shortage, there is a limitation, and resources are running out.

Many people live in the mindset of “barely getting along,” trapped in a world system that says there’s never enough—paycheck to paycheck, limited resources, rising costs, and constant worry. But this scarcity mindset is not from God. It’s a way of thinking the world has brainwashed people to believe. The truth is God’s provision is limitless. He is El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One, and His supply is more than enough.

When walls seem immovable or your strength is gone, remember El Shaddai—the God who overrides impossibilities. Lean into Him, the One who nurtures, sustains, and satisfies your soul until nothing is lacking. He doesn’t just meet needs; He brings the surplus that becomes our overflow. “So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:10)

This is more than a financial struggle; it’s a mentality that has been programmed into people, a way of thinking that the system of this world enforces: scarcity, competition, and fear. The world wants you to believe that there is never enough, that provision is always short, and that you must survive, not thrive.

But God’s Kingdom operates on a completely different frequency. He is El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One, and His supply is limitless. The breakthrough you’ve been waiting for isn’t held up by your ability—it’s blocked only by your understanding of who He is. It’s time to change the frequency you’re tuned into—from the world’s scarcity to God’s divine surplus.

What if that narrative is the only thing standing between you and your breakthrough? It’s time to change the frequency you’re tuned into. The system of this world operates by subtraction and division. It subtracts from what you have and divides what remains until people begin to believe that lack is normal. But today I want to introduce you to a different system—the system of the Kingdom of God. Our God does not operate by subtraction and division. He operates by addition and multiplication.

The Bible reveals a God who is the God of surplus. In His Kingdom, the overflow is greater than the original need. When God becomes your source, the issue is no longer supply; the issue is revelation. Many believers are not facing a supply problem—they are facing a lack of understanding concerning El Shaddai, the God who is more than enough. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

When you encounter a wall that refuses to move, remember El Shaddai—the God who has the power to override every natural law in order to fulfill His promise. When you feel empty, exhausted, and depleted, you can lean upon the All-Sufficient One, the One who nurtures, sustains, and satisfies the soul until nothing is lacking.

El Shaddai is the God who overrides every impossibility, who nurtures and sustains His people, and who brings the surplus of God, where His “extra” becomes our “overflow.”

I have been hearing these words daily, “I will provide.” Every time we have been facing challenges in 2026 and the enemy tries to bring distractions to our breakthrough, the words keep coming, “I will provide.” I praise God for victory. In writing this letter, provision continues to come in supernaturally, and all is well! El Shaddai, God Almighty, The All-Sufficient One.

I remember years ago we were taking a step of faith to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We were trusting the Lord for a substantial sum to move to our residence near Rhema Bible Church. We were attending special meetings at Harvest Church in Champaign, Illinois. We planted a sacrificial seed that night and trusted the Lord. Within less than a month the entire amount came into our hands, giving us the green light to make the move. Praise God! We saw many miracles through that move of faith! What El Shaddai did then, He will do it again!

El Shaddai —The Breasted One

El Shaddai is often translated as “God Almighty,” but the Hebrew root shad also means “breast,” symbolizing nourishment, sustenance, and life-supply. El  Shaddai and the Imagery of Nourishment.  God Almighty is a constant Provider.”El Shaddai means “the breasted one.” Just as a mother’s milk is the all-sufficient source of life, nourishment, and comfort for a baby, God is the source of everything a believer needs. He doesn’t just give you a blessing; He is the blessing.”

God is the ultimate Provider for His people. He doesn’t merely give blessings; He is the blessing. Kenneth Hagin taught that El Shaddai is like a mother to a crying child—He doesn’t simply quiet the cry; He supplies exactly what is needed to live, grow, and thrive.

Principles of El Shaddai

The Principle of Tithes and Offerings. The good news is when you bring your tithes to God, the windows of heaven open up and HE will rebuke the devour for your sake. (Malachi 3:10-11) The love of money is the root of all evil. (I Timothy 6:10) You cannot serve money and God. (Matthew 6:24) There is nothing wrong with money as long as it doesn’t have you.

There was a teaching going around for a while that you do not have to tithe. There is nowhere in the Bible that this is scripturally based. The tenth is the starting point for giving what belongs to God. Jesus refers to the tithe (Matthew 23:23, Luke 11:42, and 18:12). The book of Hebrews continues this in the order of Melchizedek for an understanding of tithing today. The blessings come through Jesus.

“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. Malachi 3: 8-10 NIV

The Principle of Addition – Seeking the Kingdom and His Righteousness. God adds to your life when you make Him your first priority. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

The Principle of Multiplication – The Surplus of God. God doesn’t just meet your need—He multiplies beyond your expectation. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” — Ephesians 3:20

The Principle of The Satisfied Life. El Shaddai doesn’t just want you to survive; He wants you to live fully satisfied in His provision. “With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” — Psalm 91:16

Read Psalm 91:1-16. Confess the following out loud and believe in your heart. The Seven-Fold Promises of El Shaddai are found in Psalm 91:1-16.

1. I will deliver him

2. I will set him on high.

3. I will answer him.

4. I will be with him in trouble.

5.  I will honor him.

6. I will satisfy him with long life.

7. I will show him my salvation.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, We thank You that You are El Shaddai—the All-Sufficient One. Forgive us for praying small prayers to such a Big God. We repent for the times we looked at our bank accounts, our health, or our history and decided that You weren’t enough to fix it. Right now, I pray for every person under the sound of my voice who feels ‘depleted.’ For the one seeking Your Kingdom first: let ‘all these things’ begin to find them this week. Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
