When we were traveling and holding meetings in the late 1980s, I recall a woman who had trouble seeing out of one eye. I was asked to speak at a midweek service for a pastor of a church. I was giving a lesson on healing. After the service was over, the woman came up to me and said that Jesus had healed her during the lesson. Her vision was almost flawless, yet she was having trouble seeing out of one eye. By hearing and absorbing God’s Word, she received the breaker anointing.
What is the Breaker Anointing?
“The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.” Micah 2:13 (KJV)
The “breaker anointing” is a significant and sudden release and advancement in one’s life, facilitated by the Holy Spirit. Understanding the anointing of the Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome obstacles and achieve their God-given purpose.
For instance, your breakthrough could be for health, peace of mind, relationships, ministry, or finances. You might be seeking spiritual empowerment from God while fulfilling the assignment He has given you.
There can also be hindrances, bondages, delays, and circumstances that hold you back or try to stop you from fulfilling the ministry in your life. The truth is, the anointing breaks the yoke of all things holding you back!
How Do I Receive the Breaker Anointing?
The breaker anointing is received when we open ourselves to the Spirit’s work. It may be imparted through the laying on of hands, activated by faith in God, and released as we speak His Word with boldness. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, the Lord Himself goes before us, shattering barriers and making a way where there seemed to be no way.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Isaiah 10:27 (KJV)
The breaker anointing is not a mystical gift reserved for a few, but a divine empowerment that flows from Christ, “the Breaker” (Micah 2:13). To receive this anointing, believers must position themselves in faith, in alignment with God’s Word, and open to the Spirit’s impartation.
1. By the Laying on of Hands
Scripture shows that God often imparts spiritual gifts and anointing through the laying on of hands:
- “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)
- “Stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” (2 Timothy 1:6)
The breaker anointing can be imparted through Spirit-filled ministers who already walk in this dimension of breakthrough. This act represents a transfer of spiritual grace from one vessel to another by the Holy Spirit’s direction.
2. By Faith in God
Faith is the key that unlocks every spiritual promise. Without faith, no anointing can be received or activated:
- “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Believers must anchor their confidence not in man, but in God Himself, the Source of all anointing. Faith expects the breakthrough, prepares for it, and acts as though the way has already been made.
3. By Speaking the Word of God
The breaker anointing is voice-activated. God’s Word spoken in faith releases heaven’s authority into earthly situations:
- “Is not My word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29)
- “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)
When believers declare the promises of God boldly, they align themselves with the Breaker Himself. Speaking the Word breaks spiritual barriers and enforces the victory already secured in Christ.
4. By Yielding to the Holy Spirit
The breaker anointing is not achieved through human effort—it is a supernatural work of the Spirit:
- “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)
As believers yield, worship, and obey, the Spirit manifests this anointing, breaking through every hindrance.
The breaker anointing is a sovereign release of Holy Spirit power that heralds divine breakthrough. Scripturally rooted in Micah 2:13, it represents the Lord Himself breaking open new paths before His people. This anointing dismantles spiritual and earthly barriers—bondages, delays, and limitations—so that God’s presence and purposes move forward unhindered. This moment of the breaker anointing of the Holy Spirit occurs when heaven invades earth, bringing eternal purposes into our natural experience and empowering us to fulfill God’s calling.
